“Quilting Bees”First Ever Public Quilt Exhibition in Jeddah

All the “Quilting Bees” of Jeddah were very excited to be holding our first ever public Quilt Exhibition in Jeddah. A few of the ladies volunteered to set up the premises at the Jamjoon Art Centre the day before our opening. There was an array of quilts, contemporary, traditional and art quilts. All the the labels which tell the story about the quilts had been made up and printed.  The ladies proceeded to hang the quilts on rods. Then their labels were put up on the walls with assistance from some staff. Some of the quilts were displayed on easels. It looked fabulous to see all our creative work on display. The whole art centre was transformed. We also provided free Water, soft Drinks, Coffee, Tea, Dates and biscuits for our visitors.

Miza with a ready smile from the Art Centre was fantastic, she was there the whole time of the exhibition.

We also had Mousadiah there with her Mosaic Ceramics display. Her work is truly beautiful.

Well we were not disappointed at all! The crowds came. It was fantastic to see so many coming. Men, Women and Children all came and enjoyed the excitement of something new.  As you looked around you could see people with their mobiles taking photo’s and stopping to look at the details about the quilts. It was a real joy to behold.

As they left they put their comments into our visitors book. many of them were commenting on how amazed they were at the standard of the quilts. Men especially were very impressed at the creativity of the ladies.

We were very pleased to be able to hold our Quilt Exhibition in the Arts Centre in the Jamjoon Centre. A big thanks to the Management and staff for allowing us to hold our event. Thanks also for all their assistance with setting up and dismantling .
